Municipally Designated Important Cultural Property (designated 2004)
Made: Built in Bunsei 12 (1829) Partly disassembled and repaired in December 2024.
Location: Jōenji temple, Honjō, Oku
Dimensions: 2.32m between the main pillars.

The front gate of Kōmyōin Temple was built in 1829. Made in the style known as yakui-mon, it has a gabled roof supported by two main frontal pillars and two secondary supporting pillars at the rear. The gate’s relatively standard construction is richly decorated with many carvings. Though perhaps overly elaborate for a temple gate, it is still a valuable structure that shows the passion for architecture and outstanding carving skills particular to craftsmen of the late Edo period (19th C).
