Main hall (hondō) of Ōgashimaji temple
Municipally Designated Important Cultural Property (designated 2004)
Made: Rebuilt in An’ei 10 (1781)
Location: Yokeiji temple, Kitashima, Oku
Dimensions: Front:13.72m Side:13.72m
Rebuilt in 1781, this is one of the largest temple halls in Okayama prefecture.
The facade has a wide gap between the central pillars and narrow spaces between them and the pillars on the opposite side to create a grand, dramatic appearance. Despite having been rebuilt, it is still possible to spot details in the structure which preserve the architectural style of the Keicho era (1596-1615).
