On this site, Sue ware was made over the course of about a hundred years from the early 7th century to the early 8th century. Among the large number of more common finds, such as cups and jars, excavated from the site, shibi (roof ornaments), ink stones, and coffins were also found.
Sue ware made here has also been excavated in Nara, a major city in the Kansai region just south of Kyoto and itself a former capital of Japan. In view of this, it is hypothesized that this kiln was not just a small local site, but was partly government-run. Five underground anagama kilns exceeding ten meters in length have been found in this historic site.
